One Torah for All

One Torah shall be to him that is home-born, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

Exodus 12:49

Shalom Zerubbabel,

After reading the Q and A about the 3rd Temple a few thoughts have come to mind.

First of all let me say that I agree with you that the Temple being built would certainly be defiled by Anti-Messiah and that would lead to that 4th.

Now from what I have read and understood thus far is that while there will be a Temple built, is it not the one that is not built with human hands, thus it would be us who are the Temple that is being built, rather than a literal building? Also, my thoughts go to a Scripture that Yah says He is weary of the slaughtering of animals

 Psalm 51:16-17
For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

 Proverbs 21:3a
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

 Isaiah 1:11-16
To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

 Jeremiah 7:22-23
For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

 Hosea 6:6
For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
God's people were to bring the sacrifices because God commanded it, but God was looking beyond their ceremonial actions into their very hearts. The blood of animals cannot make atonement for us.

This was done once for all through Yeshua Messiah.

So why would Yah want blood of animals to fill the land again, this kind of sounds like going backward to me. Hope this makes sense to you. I pray for ruach hakodesh will cause me to understand, but at the moment, do no understand what benefit reinstating animal sacrifices would be, however the sacrifices of Praise, sacrifices of full surrender to His will and so forth, now that makes sense to me.

Looking forward to you insight on this.
much love and Shalom in His Name

You have posed some very good points, so let’s walk through them one at a time.  Please see below for comments throughout what you have posted.

Now from what I have read and understood thus far is that while there will be a Temple built, is it not the one that is not built with human hands,

The temple not built with human hands is the one in heaven.  It is in this temple which Mashiach ministers.  It is here which He is a priest.  Scripture states that Mashiach is NOT a priest on earth (Hebrews 8:4), but in the heavenly temple.

thus it would be us who are the Temple that is being built, rather than a literal building?

In a metaphorical sense, this is true.  But we need to be careful not to mix our metaphors.  There is a literal temple, both on earth as well as one in heaven and a different code applies to each.  Also, the metaphorical temple in which we are a part of, also has a different code governing it.  We are likened as stones, one upon another, but that does not mean that such a metaphorical edifice replaces or does away with the actual one, YHWH forbid.

Also, my thought go to a Scripture that Yah says He is weary of the slaughtering of animals

Psalm 51:16-17
For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

First and foremost, what YHWH desires from us is obedience (shema).  It is the one word that sums up all of Scripture.  Please consider this passage as well dealing with King Shaul.

1st Sh’muel 15:22
And Samuel said, “Has YHWH as great delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the Voice of YHWH? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken [shema] than the fat of rams.”

In chastising the Pharisees, Yeshua said this to them,

Matthew 23:23
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you tithe mint and anise and cummin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law, justice, and mercy, and faith: but these you ought to have done, and not to have left the other undone.”

You see here is the truth, the weightier matters of Torah are more important.  However, this does not excuse one from leaving the other matters undone.  We still need to do ALL of Torah.  Why?  Because He said it—which means that those recorded words are a written record of His Voice.  We are to obey His Voice!

Proverbs 21:3
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

Isaiah 1:11-16
To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

Please note words above which I have underlined.  What is it that YHWH is weary of?  It is “your” sacrifices!  Not His sacrifices, but ours!  What’s the difference?  The difference is that when a person hears and obeys His Voice to do all that He says and commands, then his actions are pleasing to YHWH.  However, if a person takes it upon himself to add to or take away from His Voice (Torah), then one is no longer hearing and obeying His Voice, but rather one is following after his own vain thoughts and imaginations of his heart.  This is evil in His sight.

This passage can be rather tricky if one does not take into account the whole counsel of Scripture.  First, YHWH desires that each and every person hear and obey (shema) His Voice.  In fact, we can rightly say that NO person will have eternal life without doing this one thing!  That is how critical it is!!!  It is the whole point of Scripture, to teach us to hear and obey His Voice.  Now, it does not really matter what He says, the question is, are we willing to do it?  Are we willing to obey His Voice?  Avraham did, even to the point of offering up his promised son as a burnt offering.  Sure, YHWH stopped him at the last possible moment, but only because Avraham was hearing and obeying His Voice.  Are we doing as well?  He has commanded us to circumcise our male children.  Are we obeying His Voice in this matter?  He has commanded us to make the seventh day a shabbat.  Are we obeying His Voice in the matter?  He has commanded us to sacrifice certain animals in certain ways at certain times.  Are we obeying His Voice in this matter?  And if we aren’t, then would we if He taught us how and gave us the opportunity?  Shema (hearing and obeying) His Voice is a matter of the heart.  It is NOT about following a list of dos and don’ts.  It is about having a living and vital relationship with one’s Creator.  Are we willing to put aside ALL preconceived ideas and thoughts, to put aside ALL of our personal agendas and follow only His Voice?  This is what He has asked us to do.  Only then can He be one’s Elohim.  We cannot pick and choose what we shall obey and what we shall not obey.  We are to obey each and every word, for it is our life, every jot and every tittle, not leaving anything undone which He has spoken to us!

Hosea 6:6
For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

God's people were to bring the sacrifices because God commanded it, but God was looking beyond their ceremonial actions into their very hearts. The blood of animals cannot make atonement for us. This was done once for all through Yahusha Messiah.

That was the problem, it was not from their heart.  If it is not from our heart, then what good is it?  It is no good.  Look at two different men, both give to the poor.  One man attains eternal life, the other one does not.  Why?  It is because of the condition of one’s heart—his motives.  Why are we doing what we are doing?  I choose to obey each and every commandment of YHWH because I love Him so much.  It is from that love that all of my actions come forth.  If I do something which is not out of love for Him, then that action is completely worthless, regardless of how it looks on the outside, regardless of even if it is commanded by YHWH.

What YHWH wants to fill the land is His people hearing and obeying (shema) His Voice.  The blood of the animals is only incidental.  Its meaning is significant only if one is doing it because he is hearing and obeying His Voice.  If one is simply following a commandment, then he has completely missed the point!  How can one be fully surrendered if he is not willing, in fact does, every single word that His mouth utters?  Avraham did.  Will we?

John 10:27
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”

Mashiach Yeshua said those words.  He also said that if we love Him, then we would keep and do His commandments?  What commandments?  Torah are His commandments.  Mashiach is the One who gave the Torah to Moshe on Mount Sinai.  Mashiach is the Creator of all things.  He is the Judge.  He is our Savior.  He is all in all.  Are we willing to hear an obey His Voice regardless of what He says to do?

Hope this helps.
Love and blessings,
Zerubbabel
